Curated for VBC Organizations and led by CareJourney’s analysts and industry experts, the program is designed to address the critical business questions faced by decision-makers taking on risk-based payment models. These questions and use cases have been developed in partnership with our 140+ members that are industry leaders in value-based care.

How it Works

Whether you are very familiar or starting your journey with value-based care, our goal is to empower you with the right insights to identify opportunities for reducing costs and improving patient outcomes. VBC organizations will come together to learn how to use data to inform business and clinical decisions, network with their peers, share best practices, and leave with a strong data foundation for achieving value-based care success.

Learners will meet for a virtual workshop led by CareJourney experts. Our virtual program includes two half-day sessions, typically hosted 12:30pm – 5:00pm EST.

Program Description

Our certificate program features use-case driven content and includes a combination of presentations, discussions and hands-on data exercises.

Sessions on VBC models and critical questions for healthcare professionals taking on
risk-based contracts.

Session Format

Our typical agenda starts off with a program kick-off and an overview of the VBC landscape led by one of CareJourney’s industry experts. We’ll uncover what strategies you can adopt to succeed in VBC. We’ll also dive deeper into the data building blocks used in performance analysis and decision-making. The agenda will focus heavily on hands-on exercises showing how an organization would use analytics to understand their benchmark, project their utilization, identify growth opportunities, and uncover insights on health equity opportunities.

The program will also offer attendees with opportunities to network with similar organizations and individuals leading the charge in VBC. In-person sessions will include a networking dinner at the end of Day 1. We will also offer plenty of opportunities for participants to network with like-minded peers and organizations.

Program Costs

The total cost for the program is $1,900. Scholarships are available.
This does not include cost of travel, but discounted rates at local hotels are available. The program is free for CareJourney Members. Organizations in risk-based contracts may qualify for a scholarship. Save your spot now to see if you qualify.

Certificate and Community Support

After completing the program, participants will receive a certificate in VBC Analytics from CareJourney, as well as customized reports to begin their journey into value-base care. Learners will have the option to continue networking with their participating cohort, share best practices, and receive expert insights into value-based care by joining the CareJourney’s VBC Analytics LinkedIn community.

Aneesh Chopra is the President of CareJourney, an open data and analytics platform delivering a trusted, transparent rating system for physicians, networks, facilities and markets on the move to value. He served as the first U.S. CTO and authored “Innovative State: How New Technologies Can Transform Government.”

He serves on the Boards of the Health Care Cost Institute, Virginia Center for Health Innovation, IntegraConnect, Upstream Care, International Digital Accountability Council, and Chairs the George Mason Innovation Advisory Council. He earned his MPP from Harvard Kennedy School and BA from The Johns Hopkins University.

Nationally known for her work in the field of accountable care and population health, Dr. Katherine Schneider’s mission is to deliver better health, better care, and sustainable cost in the communities that we work in, live in, and serve.

As President and CEO of the Delaware Valley Accountable Care Organization, Dr. Schneider built and led one of the nation’s largest multipayer ACOs including more than 2000 physicians, 16 hospitals, 2 health systems, and a quarter million lives in the Philadelphia region. During her tenure she also served as Chairman of the Board of the National Association of ACOs.

Previously, Dr. Schneider was Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Medecision, population health and care management technology for providers and health plans. She also served as the SVP for Health Engagement at AtlantiCare and held several leadership positions at Middlesex Health Systems.

Dr. Schneider is a former member of the National Advisory Council to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). She is a graduate of Smith College and Columbia University. She is a board-certified Family Physician with an additional degree in Epidemiology and is also in the first cohort of US physicians to achieve subspecialty certification in Clinical Informatics in 2013.

Dr. Chris Lester

Chris Lester joined CareJourney in February 2017 and is serving as the VP of Product Strategy & Analytics. In this role, he oversees the development of novel algorithms that power CareJourney’s products as well as CareJourney’s research goals and partnerships. Chris comes to CareJourney from Equate Analytics, a company dedicated to helping consumers explore health insurance options, where he led their search engine marketing and data science efforts. Before that, Chris was an Office of Science Graduate Fellow at the Department Energy sifting through peta-bytes of data for new particle signatures at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. His efforts contributed to the discovery of the Higgs Boson, a particle central to the Standard Model of Particle Physics. Chris received a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in Experimental Particle Physics and B.S from Duke University in Physics and German Literature.

Is this program right for me?

What will I receive after completing the course?
You will receive an official Value-based Care Analytics Certificate to share on LinkedIn and in your resume. You will also receive custom reports curated specifically for your organization’s needs, so you can kickstart your value-based care journey with financial and cohort benchmarks to measure against.

Is this program really 100% in-person? Can I join virtually?
This program is offered both in-person and virtually. To guarantee engagement and networking among participating organizations, we strongly encourage attending in-person. The certificate will also include pre- and post- coursework that can be accessed virtually at your own time.

Can I attend another time?
The Value-based Care Analytics Certificate Program will be offered multiple dates throughout the year, so you can pick a date that best works for you.

I want to attend in-person, but I’ve already used my T/E budget for the year.
This program will also be offered across select cities in the U.S. and in tangent with relevant industry conferences, so you can plan around your already scheduled travel. We are regularly evaluating locations and formats for the certificate program based on attendee feedback. What background knowledge is necessary?
Basic health care knowledge and insight into your organization’s payment models.

Will I earn university credit for completing the certificate?
At this moment, we are not offering education credits. Upon completion, you may add the certificate on your LinkedIn profile and to your resume to demonstrate your mastery of value-based care analytics.
